About Dreambase
Dreambase is an online dream journal with interpretation tools. Record a dream, examine its symbols and relationships, then compare it with earlier entries for recurring patterns.
Built for dream interpretation
You do not need a complete narrative or any experience interpreting dreams. Record a scene, a fragment, or a few disconnected details. Dreambase keeps the original text and gives you tools to analyze it later. Writers can also use cut-ups to make new text from their own words.
Search entries, index recurring symbols, and compare dreams across time. The tools surface possible connections; they cannot tell you what a dream definitively means. Your own context matters more than a generic symbol definition.
How the interpretations work
Save a dream first; readings are optional and generated only when you ask. Symbolic examines images and possible associations; Relational examines people, movement, repetition, tension and perspective. Cut-up is a writing experiment using only words in the current dream: Drift flows, Shard fragments, and Echo repeats. Echoes is a separate reading that cites details from earlier entries. The All view gathers saved layers, rather than generating a new one.
Generate individual layers or ask for other missing layers. Regenerating replaces a saved layer only after a new reading is saved. Editing dream text keeps earlier text and readings in history. Compare analyzes two selected dreams; Archive interpretation analyzes a chosen set of entries and can optionally include shared Collective dreams. Their saved readings link to source dreams, which may have changed since generation.
The system can miss context or draw a weak connection. Check every suggestion against your dream and your own experience. Interpretations are neither clinical assessments nor predictions.
The symbol library
Reference entries list possible associations, scene variations, and questions for checking them against a dream. Select entries also show sourced examples of how images appear in particular artworks and traditions, separate from your own dream. They are not a validated dictionary or a claim to represent a particular culture or faith. Optional on-demand explorations are shown separately from the written reference entries.
Privacy and processing
Your dreams are private by default. Sharing a dream with the Collective is your choice; private notes, original audio and earlier versions are not included. We protect your journal as best we can, but platform administrators may access it when needed. Dreambase is not end-to-end encrypted.
When you request an interpretation, the text needed for it is sent to our processing provider. Comparisons and archive interpretations use the dreams you select. Symbol-library explorations use your search and reference entries, not your dream archive.
You can export your writing or move dreams to recoverable trash; permanent deletion is a separate action. Full account deletion and removal of uploaded files are not available in the app yet.
Tools and limits
The journal includes typed or browser-supported dictated capture, optional original audio, suggested details to review before saving, notes, layered readings, symbol references, cross-dream analysis, archive search and filters, overview and export tools. A public tour demonstrates the tools with fictional examples. The listening room offers an optional timer and journal questions; Account can generate a calendar file for reminders, but Dreambase sends no notifications. Recorded audio is not automatically transcribed. The Dream guide explains these options and can discuss only dream details you choose to share with it; it does not read or edit your journal.
Browser dictation and read-aloud depend on device support. Downloadable narration remains deferred. Imports restore supported dreams, not a complete backup of readings, history and audio.
